The Bandits and The Colin Kennedy Band

Darvel Bowling Club, Darvel, 23rd March 2018

The second concert to raise funds for the 18th anniversary Darvel Music Festival was a resounding success.

The Bandits kicked things off with fantastic renditions of iconic r&b, blues and northern soul classics such as ‘Can I get a Witness’, ‘Tainted Love’, ‘In the Midnight Hour’ and ‘Wooley Bully’. Further gems by the Beatles, The Who and Dr Feelgood were also performed and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed their set.

Headliners, the Colin Kennedy Band are well known across Ayrshire and beyond. They have appeared on the town hall stage in the past as part of the music festival and performed at many other prestigious events across Scotland. The band of stellar musicians played tracks from their excellent album ‘Paint the Grey Sky Blue’ and fans were enthralled by their ability to recreate such quality on stage. Colin and his band also gave a stunning version of Bowie’s ‘Jean Genie’ which got everyone up on the dance floor.

Sheila McKenna, Festival director would like to thank both of these superb bands for performing at the bowling club fundraiser, to Colin and Richard for their excellent sound and to Gilbert and his staff at the Bowling Club. Most importantly the Darvel Music Company would like to thank all of our lovely music patrons who consistently support us and whose generosity for buying raffle tickets knows no bounds!
